The most obvious type of specialty food store is a bakery, but there is a ton of unique specialty food stores importing spices, foods, and chocolate from around the world. For Victoria residents, it means we can enjoy, cook with, and eat new things, or bring back fond memories of our home countries.

From far and wide, and sweet to savoury, here are a handful of particularly wonderful specialty food stores.

🗞️ News

A new vegan burger shop is coming to downtown Victoria. Last year, Odd Burger announced it was expanding to 36 locations across Canada, and Victoria was one of the first in that wave. Odd Burger representatives told Tasting Victoria permits were just approved and construction at 790 Fisgard St. will start soon.

Sriracha lovers in Victoria are missing the hot sauce. Though there are other brands to try, many are dedicated to the signature bottle with the rooster and the green cap, but it’s been missing from Victoria shelves for some time now. [Victoria News]

Boardwalk Burgers now open. The burger joint officially opened this week at the Bay Centre, with an official grand opening event in October. Head to the Fort Street entrance and try out the burgers, fries, and shakes.
