Five restaurants in Victoria we can't wait to visit this spring

From brunch to seafood, fast food and more

Spring is officially here, and not only can we expect to see flowers, trees and an abundance of animals come into our backyards really soon—we can also expect new restaurants to enter Victoria’s food scene, becoming some of our new go-to spots this season.

Here are five new restaurants we can’t wait to visit in Victoria this spring.

This contemporary tapas restaurant opened its doors just at the beginning of this month, serving a wide range of unique dishes that combine Indian flavours with plates from all around the world. Think curried mussels, butter chicken poutine and fried cauliflower tossed in a rich Indo-Chinese curry sauce. Delectable vegetarian options like shahi paneer and curry pakora make this a perfect spot to accommodate (and deliver on) all diets.

Address: 637 Johnson St., Victoria

If you’re familiar with OEB Breakfast Co., you’ll be thrilled to know that this popular upscale breakfast chain is opening a new location in Victoria on March 25. This is no ordinary brunch spot—expect the unexpected (or otherwise elevated versions of diner classics) with menu items like lobster and shrimp crepe, gnocchi breakfast carbonara and eggs benny topped with wild blue crab and dijonnaise.

Address: 856 Yates St., Victoria

Nothing screams spring like the reopening of this iconic outdoor eatery on Victoria’s inner harbour that specializes in serving quality, sustainably-caught fish. Whether you’re reaching for the classic two-piece fish and chips or opting for unique items like the cod dog and jerk fish, you’re in for a delicious treat.

Address: 1006 Wharf St., Victoria

Jacks on the Water is a brand new restaurant opening in Sidney at the former Rumrunners location by Seaport Place on March 29. Though they haven’t yet revealed what guests can expect on their menu, they promise “scenic tranquility, mouthwatering cuisine and genuine hospitality”, not to mention the perfect spot to enjoy a cocktail by the waterfront.

Address: 9881 Seaport Place, Sidney

Opening soon in downtown Victoria, A&W will officially launch its first walk-up window in its third location in the city. Replacing the former Birks jewelry store, the storefront will maintain the original woodwork and brick from the previous building and will provide a much-needed late night food option for weekend partygoers.

Address: 1023 Government St., Victoria
